Denaby Signings.

Denaby United may have to call on players from local clubs for some matches at the beginning of the new season. They have a crowded programme and only the bare minimum of players to complete it.

Without a second team for the second successive season, Denaby have the backing of a number of local clubs, who will be prepared to loan them players when the need arises.

New signings at Tickhill square include two players were been with Denaby before – 24 years old left back Peter Wroe, who was transferred Sheffield United for £600 and has since played with Colwyn Bay, and halfback Des Harvey.

Youth international centre forward Jim Kelly, has been signed from Denaby St Albans – but will probably be playing on the wing, and the goal will be 24 years old Alan Clarkson, who has played for Rotherham reserves.

Full back with last year’s team Brian Whant, who was expected to re-sign has not yet done so, but two predicted signings that have come off are right back David Roberts, from young Wolves, and inside left John Woodyer, who has Midland League experience with Grantham, Scarborough and Retford.
