Miner Sent To Prison

At Doncaster on Wednesday, Walter Goddard, Sidney Griffin, James Mannion and Martin Caine, miners, Denaby; and Joseph Campbell, miner, Conisborough, appeared on theft and receiving charges.

Goddard and Griffin pleaded guilty to stealing a quantity of article from a lock-up shop in Doncaster Road, Denaby, occupied by Herbert Law, and he and Campbell admitted entering the house of Beatrice Tiptaft, Denaby, through a cellar grating, and stealing a number of articles.

Mannion and Caine admitted receiving a number of articles.

Goddard was sent to prison for six weeks and the other defendants were each fined £5.
