Although Denaby United were beaten 4-2 at Valley Parade on Saturday in their last Midland League match in 1956 they have gone in to the New Year with a better points tally than they had at the corresponding period in any of the past three seasons.

Their league record is:

Last season they completed the first half of the Season with only 15 points, in the previous season they had 21 and in season ’52-’53 13 points

Their scoring record is better than it was last season. Then, they scored 31 goals in the first half of the season and had 56 goals scored against them.

Martin (19), Lambert (11), Egan (11), Holmes (8), and Clarke (8), are the leading goalscorers. There has been no hat-trick to days, but five forwards have each scored two goals in a match, Martin six times, Egan and Clarke each three times, Holmes and Lambert each twice.

Twenty-three players have been called on for first team duty.
