Denaby United 1, Scunthorpe 1
No goals were scored in the first half during which Astle in the home goal made some glorious point-blank saves. Scunthorpe had a chance in this half, when Allen went wide from a close range.
Early in the second half, Denaby applied pressure, but failed to score. Then against the run of the game, Scunthorpe broke away and scored. Barry made the opening for Patterson to give Astle no chance.
Fitzgerald and Brown missed chances for Denaby, while Allen shot over at the other end, Haggar and Watson exchanged places. This had the desired effect, for straightaway Haggar got possession in midfield, beat all opposition, and centred for Watson to register Denaby’s point. The gate receipts amounted to £23.
