Denaby United
Montagu Cup Winners
Entertained at the Red House

In honour of their having won the Montagu Charity cup competition, the Denaby United football 11 were on Saturday entertained and came to dinner by Mr. H. W. Smith at his residence, the Red house.

Following the repast, which was indeed a sumptuous affair, a convival evening was spent. The entertainment was provided by Mr. Harry Moles and the brothers Arthur and George Platt, Mexborough, whose efforts at mirth-provoking proved remarkably successful. Mr Ernest Dabb presided at the piano.

Votes of thanks to Mr. Smith, the house, and to the entertainers, where new respectively by Mr George Milnes and Mr Lister. The health of the club’s members and players now on active service were drunk, and the whole of the company present rose during the passing of a vote of sympathy with the relatives and family of J. Calladine, a former playing member of the club, who has been reported “missing” at the front.
