Peterborough 8 Denaby United 2

Peterborough gained their biggest victory this season. Peterborough were faster and played more robust football to win.

Denaby had cohesion and played good football but lacked ball control and were hesitative. Phillips was their best forward, putting across some good centres, and Betts always ready.

The defence was shaky except Pearse. Peterborough tried another centre, who scored three goals. Roberts, another clever forward, scored three. Smith and Bo up water were the best in a defence that was severely tested.

Goals came at frequent intervals and the result was never in doubt. Roberts (penalty). Gott (two), and Atkin scored in the first half, and Foxall, Roberts (two) and Gott completed Peterborough’s eight.

Betts and Williams sandwiched two in for Denaby.

Denaby lost because they were not quick enough in tackling the man in possession of the ball, while in attack they appeared tired and were too slow off the mark. Their football, otherwise, was much better than Peterborough’s.
