Denaby United’s ‘Annual’ is Postponed

Denaby United football club, who were to have held their annual meeting in the Miners’ Welfare Hall on Sunday morning, have postponed it in view of the possibility of strike meetings. The new date will be announced. The Supporters’ Club hold their annual dinner to-night (Friday), and the Football Club’s annual dinner will be held on Friday, May 27th.

Denaby one-all draw at York in their last Midland League match of the season at York, on Friday gave them a final record of Played 46, won 12, drawn 9, lost 25; Goals for 59, against 110; points 33.

They won nine points fewer than in season 1943-54, but they finished fourth from the foot of the table, above Scarborough, Frickley and Bradford City reserves. They thus avoided the necessity for re-application by a comfortable margin. Their victory at Scarborough and their draw at York were particularly meritorious in view of the many team changes necessitated
