It Was Not Denaby’s Day
Denaby United President, Mr Sam Peck paid Bradford Park Avenue reserves the compliment of being well worth their 4-1 Midland League victory on Saturday at Bradford, but he said he had not known more difficult playing conditions for a long time.
It was practically impossible to identify any of the Denaby players as the game progressed.
After Duggan and Gillott are gone close for United, Bradford took the lead after 25 minutes through Smith six minutes later Brydon increased it. The Denaby defence got through some excellent work at this period, with Barnes outstanding, and, with United still picking away, Duggan went within an ace of reducing the lead, Ward having a second chance to save a shot.
United, were playing excellently, reduced the lead through home, but to Smith goes, one forced through in a goalmouth melee, gave Bradford a substantial margin of victory. Duggan hit the post with Ward beaten, but it was not United’s day.
