Denaby Utd – Bradford Res. 7, Denaby Utd. 1 – Denaby Outclassed

April 1938

Sheffield Independent – Monday 11 April 1938

Bradford Res. 7  Denaby Utd. 1

Denaby United were outclassed at Bradford Park Avenue, where they had to defend for three quarters of the game.

Had it not been for Birkbead they would have been beaten even more severely. He conceded seven, with most of which he had little chance, but he also made several fine saves.

Williams, at left half, fine form, but otherwise Denaby’s defence was not good.

Best on attack for them were Green and Betts, and the latter scored their goal.

Bradford, who restored Doran to centre-forward with happy results, were also well served by Martin, McCall.  Kaye. Dyer, and Lindley.

Doran (4) and McCall (3) scored Bradford’s goals.
