Denaby Lose Their Last Match of 1951

Bradford Reserves  3  Denaby  United  0

Denaby United failed to repeat their performances over the Christmas holiday and lost their last match of the old year 3-0 to Bradford Reserves at Park Avenue.

Bradford had an early escape when, after a penalty award against them, the ball was swung back for both Law and Showier to get in unsuccessful shots. PARKINSON gave Bradford the lead and subsequently well co-ordinated attacks kept Jones busy. LYONS got Bradford’s second goal eight minutes before half-time and ten minutes after the resumption HODGSON got the third

Selection of United’s team to meet Halifax at Tickhill Square on Saturday was deferred until Wednesday evening because of New Year’s Day falling on the usual meeting day, and the selection will be found elsewhere in this issue. Colleagues, supporters and management would join in what must have been centre-half Alf, Lee’s regret in having to miss last weekend, through injury, after some 130 consecutive appearances

They will join in a last general expression of good wishes for a speedy return.
