Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Monday 25 October 1920

Denaby United 0  Nottm Forest Res 2

Denaby’s luck seems to be dead out. Although they had considerably the best of matters on Saturday, they allowed Notts Forest Reserve to take away the full points. Denaby gave a trial to Stanton, a centre-forward from the Sheffield district, and they were badly let down, Stanton missed many splendid opportunities.

Bennett, the Forest goalkeeper brought off some brilliant, saves from Smith and Allott and Shenherd for Denaby also kept a good goal.

Williams put the Forest ahead a few minutes before the interval and Donovan added a second after eighty minutes’ play. Livingstone took the place of Uttley at left full-hack for the home team, and the change strengthened the defence.
