After their gruelling experience at Hillsborough on Saturday, Denaby United, playing at home yesterday, all but signalised a fine recovery by inflicting defeat on Barnsley Res.
Barnsley were the cleverer side in the first half, and Denaby owed much to Ekins’ smart work in goal. The home forwards raided dangerously, however, and in the last minute Ballance got through.
Resuming, Denaby swept the visitors completely off their feet for a time, but, steadying, Barnsley thrust home, Hammerton equalising five minutes off time.
