Sheffield Independent – Tuesday 18 March 1930

Denaby United 1, Bradford Reserves 2.

This was a good game yesterday in which Denaby’s enthusiasm had to give way before the more finished style of the visitors, who won 2—1.

No goals were scored in fast first half, but as soon as the players took the field again Harkin scored for Bradford with a low 20 yards’ shot.

L. Green immediately put Denaby on level terms after some play the Bradford goalmouth. Betteridge weakly hit the side net, and at the other end Buckley. Rhodes and Scott missed splendid chances.

The winning goal was scored by Rhodes, but issue was in doubt up to the end. Denaby’s backs and half-backs were sound, as was Dunnard, the goalkeeper.
