Midland League.
Loughbro’ Take Two Points From Denaby.
Denaby United 1, Loughboro’ Corinthians 2.
Loughborough Corinthians made a profitable visit to Denaby yesterday, carrying away with them two Midland League points.
The match, which was won by the visitors 2—1, was played in wretched conditions and the ground resembled quagmire. In spite of these handicaps to the players, however, the football was keen and interesting.
Denaby made three team changes, Smith (C,), Breakwell, and West displacing Hancock, Green (L.), and Riley, all on the injured list. Loughborougn had two changes.
Loughborough kicked off, but Denaby gained possession immediately. The ball went to West, at outside-right, who banged it into the net from 15 yards after 30 seconds’ play. Ten minutes later Loughborough equalised from the penalty spot, Woodhead saved a certain goal with his hands, and from the resultant kick Hoyland scored.
The half-time score of 1-1 was a fair reflex of the play.
Loughborough were the superior side after the interval and went ahead through Hoyland, who completed a fine individual effort with a grand shot. This completed the scoring.
For Denaby West did well in the forward line and Woodhead played a splendid game in the defence.
