Denaby Utd. 1, Notts Forest Res. 4
Denaby put and spirited opposition to Notts Forest on Saturday, but were worn down by the superior weight end skill the visitors, who had three formidable inside forwards in Surtees, Hindley and Pryor.
Mace, Happs and Williams had a warm afternoon holding them but came out of the struggle very creditably. Despite Denaby’s failings, the game was fast and entertaining, and usually even, but there was always a little more danger of goals when the Forest forwards were on the move.
In each half there were three goals, two to the visitors and one Denaby. For Forest, the scorers were Surtees. Hindlee and Pryor (2) while Betts obtained both Denaby’s points.
