Denaby Utd – Denaby 2, Lincoln Reserve 5.

Sheffield Independent – Monday 13 January 1930

Denaby United 2, Lincoln Reserve 5.

With all the side composed of Third Division players, Lincoln City were too good for Denaby, but luck entered into their victory when scale appeared as though it would not avail.

The folly of appealing for offside whilst the player runs through and scores cost two goals and each time Robinson was the opportunist. He scored a third which also appeared to be offside. Lincolns other were obtained Pringle and Mitchell.

The scoring had been opened by Riley of Denaby. Hancock was Denaby’s other scorer. Senior hit the bar with a penaltv kick for Denaby which really should have been taken over, as Meeson was on the move.

The comic element entered into this, for the penalty spot took a lot of finding the players having to dig in the snow.
