Denaby’s Great Fight.
Denaby United 2 Notts County Reserves 2
Denaby put up a great fight in their home match with the League leaders—Notts County Reserves. The score of 2-2 was a fitting result of the game, which was full of thrills. Denaby forced the pace for the greater part of the game. After twenty minutes Grey gave them the lead, and Hoten equalised five minutes afterwards, taking Shepherd completely by surprise with a thirty yards’ drive.
Before the interval the visitors were leading, another long shot, this time from Robinson, again beating Shepherd. Denaby attacked vigorously in the second half, but they were up against a pair of strong backs in Walker and Ashurst, and they rarely got within shooting distance. However, Hamilton scored from a penalty.
From this point to the end play was exceedingly rough and Grey, the home inside-right, was ordered off the field.
