Sheffield Association League.

Denaby United 2 Thornhill 0

Much of the attractiveness of the game at Denaby on Saturday between these teams was lost owing to the continuous rain.

As any be imagined there was only a moderate attendance of spectators. The wind and heavy made accurate play impossible and the game was pathetically one of chance, the field slippery with liquid mud, especially near the goals. However, the home team made the attack at the start, and McNeil had hard lines. Meakin did some good work, and after a run passed to McNeil who shot over. Resuming after the interval Denaby pressed and had rather the best of matters, but Roper shot wide.

The Thornhill goal was several times hotly attached, bet the treacherous ground spoiled shooting. Meakin ultimately scored and a further goal was scored by McNeil.
