Denaby beat Wath.

Denaby United 2  Wath Athletic 1

Wath sustained their third League defeat at Denaby, yesterday, by 2-1. They were really lucky to get off so lightly, for, though they held their own in the first half, they were continually on the defensive during the second half, and only the splendid goalkeeping of Topham saved them.

The two shots which beat Topham were taken at point-blank range; as for the rest, none was good enough.

Hill, the Denaby outside-right, opened the scoring soon after the game started. The equaliser came from Hance, who beat both Peters and Dawson and drove in a terrific shot from about 25 yards range.

The game started with honours even after the interval, but ten minutes only had gone by when Brayshaw scored What proved to be the winning goal, the result of a piece of clever individual play.

Denaby were all over their opponents in the second half, and for half an hour shots rained in upon the Wath goal, Burkinshaw and Ballance being chiefly responsible for them. After Topham, Gough was the pick of the Wath defenders, and kicked cleanly and strongly throughout.
