Denaby get a Point

Denaby United 2 York City Reserves  2

With speedier and more enterprising centre forward than Booth, Denaby United might have beaten York city reserves on Saturday at Tickhill Square incident of been held to a 2-2 draw.

Oxborough was missed, although Booth scored the equalising goal – as pretty a goal as anyone wish to see.

Two goals down at half-time, Denaby fought back well and should have won comfortably in the second half. After two minutes Benson netted for York when he sent in a high centre. The wind carried the ball past Cowley, who seem to think it would pass harmlessly over.

After Booth had been given offside for what seen from the stand a perfectly good goal, Mowbray neatly headed York second goal from well-placed centre by Jackson.

In the second half continued Denaby pressure resulting in Booth heading down for Robertson to take the ball on the half volley and crashed it home. 10 minutes later Booth gathered a bad clearance beat Andrews neatly and cracked in the equaliser.

It was a pity Dale did not find time to have a shot. He got through a tremendous amount of work and was always the danger man. At one time we had five your defender surrounding him, and was always carried out as soon as he got to the ball. Brown played well, but Denaby’s strength lay in Osborne.
