The game at between the colliers and Notts Forest Reserve suffered financially through the interesting Cup-tie at Mexborough. There was a wretched attendance, but some fairly good football. There were many changes in the home front rank, hut they gave a fairly decent show. The reappearance of Tufnell, the centre-forward who was signed on on Wednesday, being particularly noteworthy, inasmuch he accomplished’ the hat-trick.”
The visitors were a very strong lot. Served by a splendidly strong defence, and possessing a front line speedy, clever, and strong in front of goal, they gave a sparkling display in the opening half, and with a lead of four goals to one it looked all over.
