Denaby United’s Changes Bring Improved Form.

Denaby 3  Notts County Res. 2

Last night, Denaby made three charges from the side which lost at Mansfield, on Saturday, with profitable results for they beat Notts County Reserves 3-2.

Notts were the bigger side, but they lacked the cohesion of Denaby. The first goal was scored when Betteridge had his shot deflected by Seebury into his own goal. Then Merritt pave Taylor a chance to equalise for Notts, and the ball rebounded off the post into the net. Betteridge, immediately afterwards lifted the ball over several players, including Hampson, the goalkeeper, into the open goal.

Smith added Denaby’s third and, in the closing stages, Taylor netted again for Notts, through misunderstanding in the Denaby defence.

Woodhead gave a fine display for Denaby, and appears to be the “find” of the season.
