Denaby’s Return.
Weak Worksop Well Whacked.

Denaby 3, Worksop 0.

Denaby made a satisfactory reappearance at Tickhill square on Saturday after playing all out matches since 3 November.

Denaby had several newcomers in their attack. In the first half the 1,000 spectators saw some good football but Denaby were obviously the better side. In the second half Denaby had some shooting practice. Only their unsteadiness near goal saved Worksop from a much heavier beating.  The weakness of Worksop was seen early. Their forwards had little combination or marksmanship. Denaby tried the Worksop defence many times in the early stages and found the halves a poor lot. The backs and Edeson were strong.

Worksop adopted kick-and-rush methods but the Denaby defence was never seriously troubled. Siviter had one great chance but shot hopelessly wide. Denaby scored after 28 minutes. Jenkins, who had returned to the right wing after a spell at centre-forward, made a clever run and centred for the long-legged GREEN to tap the ball into the net. Alter 41 minutes JENKINS cut in to accept a pass from Brown and score. There was no further scoring in the first half.

The second half was at least entertaining. The game became so one-sided that Rogers and Taylor got nearly into the Worksop penalty area. You Denaby could not score more than once. Edison make some remarkable saves. The only goal was got after 15 minutes of the half by C SMITH.

For Denaby Birch had an easy time in the halves and backs were too good for Worksop. In attack Denaby were by no means strong, Brown from Dinnington, was tried in Turner’s place but as yet much to learn. The Smiths showed promise. Both know the way to goal and are quick to snap up passes. Green was the brain of the line. Jenkins was the best winger and perhaps the best forward on view.
