Denaby United Beat Gainsboro’.

Denaby United  4  Gainsborough Trinity  2

Denaby’s forwards, on their own ground yesterday, were as frisky as the weather, and, with many other meritorious but unsuccessful shots at goal to their credit, they put the ball past, Scott, Gainsborough’s goalkeeper, four times.

Ballance opened the scoring for them, after twenty minutes, though the home side were facing the wind. Denaby led by this one goal at the interval, and then quickly improved the lead through Burkinshaw and Hamilton.

The visitors rallied, and Buttery beat Eakins with, a well-placed effort. A few minutes later Burkinshaw neutralised its effect, but, before the end the visitors were awarded a penalty. Coope fouling Talbot, who had to retire. Sherman took the kick, and scored.
