Might Have Been More

Denaby United 4 Kilnhurst 3

Although Denaby’s superiority gave them a 4-3 win over Kilnhurst, at Kilnhurst, on Saturday, Kilnhurst did well to keep the margin of goals down.

In the first half, most of the play was confined to the Denaby half, but after Kilnhurst had made a series of attacks on the Denaby goal, Denaby overran the Kilnhurst forwards and despite good work by Turner and Aspinall, managed to score through L. Williams, to be followed 10 minutes later by Adey equalising for Kilnhurst.

Denaby’s second goal came when Burton headed a fine shot into the net, well luck gave Kilnhurst their second goal, Taylor hitting the crossbar with the ball which dropped into the net.

Denaby’s 3-2 lead at half-time came through Strachan.

In the second half they became very lively and Denaby stored through Strachan. The third goal for Kilnhurst was scored by Adey.

For Denaby, Burkinshaw was in his usual form, while Mellows did good working goal. For Kilnhurst, Turner and Aspinall did good work at back.
