Denaby Demoralise Worksop
Denaby United 5 Worksop Town 0
The few hundred spectators at this match saw a marked revival in Denaby United’s play.
The team moved in the old sweet way, and Worksop came in for a sultry time. Denaby won by 5 – 0 and the margin, big as it is, hardly suffices to reflect the home team’s superiority.
The forwards worked well together, the wing work been especially good, while Dodsley’s centring was a feature of the game. Kelly as usual was a shining light in the home halfback line, and he was much too good for Padley, the clever Worksop pivot. Kelly was well supported by Westwood and Nimrod, and further behind Middlemass and Gregory saw to it that Hancock and not much to do.
Largely answerable for the improvement in the Denaby attack was the selfishness of Dyal and Glennon, fed the wingmen well.
On the Worksop side Scott, Turner, Raybould and Bellamy did good work, but the team as a whole hadn’t a chance to prosper, whilst the loss of Arrowsmith through injury was a further trouble.
