Sheffield Independent – Monday 09 May 1938
Denaby United 6, Newark 1
Denabv finished the season with their biggest victory, but the game never rose to great heights on the hard ground.
Denaby have played better games than this and lost. The visitors had the advantage of an early goal when Green headed in a centre from Skaith. These two were Newark’s most dangerous raiders, but after Fleetwood had equalised from well taken chance, Denaby took complete command for rest of the game.
Williams (L.) who played a thrustful game at inside right, scored two. and Fleetwood another to give Denaby a long interval lead, and Betts added two more in the second half, when Newark were almost constantly on the defensive.
