Denaby’s Victory Was Not Easy

Denaby United  7    Armthorpe Colliery  0

Although Denaby United gained a 7-0 victory over Armthorpe Colliery their display did not warrant it. Their play was not up to the previous weeks.

Their forwards missed many opportunities and with a little more steadiness Denaby would have scored more than seven goals. The absence of Bratley, and the nonappearance of Goldsmith, weakened the Denaby defence and at times they needed help from the forwards.

Armthorpe played well despite the fact they arrived with ten men and had to find a player at Denaby. Fletcher in goal, and Morris centre-half, were the pick of Armthorpe’s side, while Wilkinson, Smith and Gibbs stood out for Denaby.

Denaby’s goals scorers were Ardron (4), Gibbs, Burkinshaw and White, who put through his own goal.
