Denaby Again.
From present appearances Denaby United look like emulating their performance of last season, when they went through the Midland League campaign, without being defeated at home.
So far this season Denaby have played seven League matches, and have gathered all the 14 points stake. Seeing that their away work has, in addition, been attended with goodly measure of success, it is pretty obvious that they must now be recognised as one the foremost clubs in the Midland League.
Their victims on Saturday were Barnsley Reserve, who may be said to have done well in only going under by the only goal of the game, but Barnsley’s citadel had the assistance of a great deal of luck in not falling more frequently, it was not until the closing stages of the game that the Barnsley attack came prominently to the fore, and then only two exceptionally smart clearances by Hancock prevented the visitors springing an eleventh hour surprise. But, taking the game a whole, Denaby were a long way the superior side, and though the forwards failed to drive their advantage adequately home, the work of the defence in preserving a clean sheet provided compensation.
