Denaby Transfer Clark

During the past two weeks the displays of Gordon Clark, the 20-year-old left full-back of Denaby United, have been watched by several first-class club representatives.

An offer which came from Manchester City (who were present at Denaby’s batch with Grimsby Town reserves last Saturday) has been accepted, and on Monday night Clark was transferred to the Manchester club at a figure which is not divulged but which is stated to be highly satisfactory to the club.

The deal was made in Manchester and those representing Denaby United were Mr A Davies, financial secretary Mr Matt Taylor, secretary manager.

Clark had a trial with Denaby early last season, then went for a month’s trial with Southend United. He then went to Denaby for the remainder of the season and signed forms for this season. Prior to going to Southend he played regularly with Barburgh Village, members of the Mexborough Association League.

He stands 5’ 8” tall and weighs 11 stone 12 lbs. His position Denaby United team will be filled by Westlake, a Conisbrough junior.
