Monday
Denaby’s Day
Mexborough well beaten

Denaby United 3 Mexborough 0

The same teams met at Tickill Square on Monday and a higher standard of football was reached. Denaby played a vastly improved game all round and Denaby won their first victory since October 11.

The game opened at a terrific pace and the teams maintained it splendidly. The first half was evenly fought and both sides narrowly missed scoring.

Mexborough were rather more dangerous but the Denaby defence this time was quite steady and Bromage was again at the top of his form. After the interval a rather lucky goal set Denaby on the way to victory. Inside two minutes of the resumption of play Hunter love in a ball from a freekick from the halfway line and Fletcher failed to get it away. Green headed in and Fletcher was hurt.

Burkinshaw took his place to his return while he was deputising Wadsworth ran through and scored with a rattling drive. Mexborough worked half hard but for once were well held by a set of halves and backs who had got their measure and later in the half Mace made the issue quite sure.

The game is well worth watching and there was some pretty football.
