At Last Denaby Gain First Win

Denaby United gained their first victory of the season by defeating Norton at Denaby. In recent games. Denaby had played remarkably well not deserve to win on more than one occasion.
At one period of the game, Denaby, in spite of their four goals lead, were on the defensive, and looked as if they were going to lose, for Norton staged a remarkable rally to score three good goals. Denaby recovered from this setback, and added another goal.
Melling, Denaby junior goalkeeper, give another fine display, while Fletcher, in another new position at centre half, played well. Fleetwood, Ardron, Gibbs and Shephard were also prominent.
In the early stages, Denaby attacked vigourously, and took the lead through Shephard, who converted a penalty. Denaby went further ahead through Ardron, the same player adding a third goal soon afterwards. Near the interval, Healy put through his own goal.
Norton commence the second half in fine style, the Denaby goal and the merit many narrow escapes and Webster scoring two quick goals for the visitors, Skinner, adding a third from a cross shot.
Denaby fifth goal was scored by Hyde
