Points shared
Grantham 1, Denaby United 1
Grantham had a surprise when they entertained Denaby United on Saturday, and had to be content to share the points.
On the run of the game Denaby should have one. Their improved forward line had more scoring chances but they failed to use them. There were times when Denaby, doing all the attacking, had “Mick” Brennan beaten but repeated shots hit the woodwork. A little more’s steadiness would have limited the fault.
On the other hand, Grantham in their early attacks found gaps in the Denaby defence, and they used one of them to score, through Mitchell.
Subsequently, Grantham seldom got through, and Denaby took up the attack. Burton hit the post with Brannon well beaten, the Cletheroe sent in a fast shot which Brannon saved, and later Strachan got his first goal for the club to level scores.
