Denaby Utd – Hinckley 2  Denaby 0

Sheffield Daily Telegraph – Monday 21 December 1903

Hinckley 2  Denaby United 0

Denaby suffered defeat at the hands of Hinckley on the latter’s ground to the tune of two goals to nil.

In the first half the game was fairly even, but in the remaining portion Hinckley had a decided advantage. They kept the play in close proximity to the Denaby goal, and rained shots in.

The Denaby custodian, Massey, played a splendid game, and but for his magnificent saves the score must have been very heavy. The two backs, Porter and Lawley, also did a vast amount of work, whilst Dowson was the best of the halves.

The game was finished in semi-darkness, owing to a late start, occasioned by the non-arrival of the appointed referee.
