United Out of Luck.

Hull Brunswick 2 Denaby United 1.

Two quick goals by Hull Brunswik sparked off a terrific fight-back by Denaby United in their Yorkshire League game at Hull, but the home team’s goal bore a charmed life and Brunswick were able to hold out to win 2-1.

The game opened in heavy conditions and driving rain, and United found themselves 2-0 down after 15 minutes. CROWE scored both goals, the first after a defensive mix-up and the second with a great header.

After 25 minutes a header from Charlie Williams stuck on the Hull goal-line and was scrambled away. Thirteen minutes later CAUNT reduced the arrears for Denaby, scoring with a great header.

From then until half-time the Hull goal had a charmed life, Shufflebottom bringing off at least five great saves from all the Denaby forwards.

In the second half it was the same story, the Hull goal again having many escapes. The ball hit the Hull defenders on the legs and bodies, but United just could not force it into the net.

It must have been very disappointing to the Tickhill Square lads to have 70 per cent. of the play, yet fail to get a point.
