Denaby Down at Hull
Last Night’s Midland League Game
Hull City Reserves 4 Denaby United 1
Hull City Reserves defeated Denaby United 4-1 in a Midland League match at Hull last night before a crowd of 2,000. Early exchanges were fairly even, but after 15 minutes ROBSON gave Hull the lead by fastening on to the ball after Kirk had driven through from the edge of the penalty area.
ROBSON added a second after 22 minutes, heading through after a free kick by Fagan. Just on the interval Holmes broke away for Denaby, but shot straight at the Hull goalkeeper, who covered a return shot by Watson from the rebound.
Hull led 2-0 at half-time, but the liveliness of Scott caused anxiety on the Hull left and Holmes was also a live wire. Denaby, however, could do little against Hull’s keen tackling, and following-up.
City went further ahead after 55 minutes when after a through pass by Tarrant the Denaby defence expecting a off-side whistle which never came stood still as KIRK continued his move.
Then 20 minutes from the end HOWARD reduced the arrears following a free kick by Williams, but directly afterwards TARRANT consolidated Hull’s advantage.
