For the third time these teams met on the Barnsley ground at Oakwell yesterday to decide which of them should meet Chesterfield in the second round of the Qualifying Competition.

The weather was fine, and about 400 spectators were present.

Denaby took advantage of the wind and sun, but plav became very even. However, before changing ends Goodwin scored for Denaby. Soon after resuming Denaby added another goal. Smaling scored for Hunslet. Lyons increased Denaby’s lead.  Hunslet pressed heavily and Conner scored their second goa.

Hughes and Haddon scored just before time to win the match for Hunslet.

Result: Hunslet, four goals; Denaby three goals
