Left It Too Late.

Lincoln Reserves 5, Denaby United 3

Denaby United left it too late in the game to force at least a point when they lost 5 – 3 to Lincoln reserves at Lincoln. Denaby were three goals down at the interval and in the second half they went all-out but found the Lincoln defence sound and steady.

Lincoln missed many chances in the opening stages, but after 30 minutes were two goals up through Hemmings and Brewer.

Turner, the Denaby centre are, was proving himself a tower of strength and he repeatedly broke up many Lincoln attacks. Les Williams, the Denaby centre forward, was dangerous all through the half, and the home goalkeeper, Woodbridge, was often called upon, much against the run of the game. Hemmings added another goal for Lincoln.

The second half saw an improved Denaby and two goals were scored by Padgett and Burton.

Lincoln added two more, but before the end Burton got Denaby’s third goal.
