Ball control was almost impossible but both teams put up a credible display within five minutes Manvers went ahead when Dixon headed through from a perfect centre by franklin after this franklin inexplicably neglected and had to fetch the ball when he wanted it when he did get going he was a danger Denaby where quicker on the ball than the Manvers forwards but Burkinshaw and Rowley played a sterling game in defence after a shaky first half Newey played his usual sound game in the second half manvers played better and but for good defensive work by senior and Perkins would have increased their lead Bennet and Moralee were prominent Raynor increased the manvers lead, Denaby fought back and Briggs reduced the arrears.

Denaby stuck to it and with better finishing might have equalized. Burkinshaw was a value half back for the home side and Healey, Rowley and Newey were prominent after the interval.

The outstanding was sSnior the Denaby centre half. He was ably supported by Perkins and Madin while Briggs was the best visiting forward
