Denaby Turn Tables on Rivals.
Mexborough Town 0 Denaby United 2
After having surrendered both points at Tickhill Square on Boxing Day, Denaby were worthy winners in the return with Mexborough, at Mexborough, yesterday.
The first half produced rugged and determine football, and Denaby crossed over leading by a goal gained Johnson three minutes from time. Mexborough made determined efforts in the second half, but when Ingledew second for Denaby the home side lost heart.
Mexborough’s forwards, though clever, dallied too long in front of goal, the Denaby forwards were always ready for a shot.
Both teams were well served in defence and Kennedy and Ogley were again the outstanding men on either side. Birch return to the Denaby goal with credit, and Skeels, deputising for Vollans, injured, formed with Shaw, Mexborough’s best wing.
About 4.000 people watched the game, the score of which was fair reflex of the merits of the team.
