Although Denaby who were engaged on the Newark ground on Saturday, saw a lot of goals scored, they got little advantage out of the match, and after leading at half-time, they had to be content with a solitary point from a game which saw no less than eight goals.

The home side won the toss, and played with the wind and rain in their favour. From a breakaway by Denaby, after five minutes’ play, Blackburn scored an easy goal for the visitors.

Newark were working splendidly and were rewarded ten minutes alter the start, Watson converting an excellent pass from Robinson.

One of the visiting backs missed his kick, and let in the Newark “van,” but the ball was struck out, and a brisk visit paid to the other end, Dyal Scoring.

Kirk let Ball get through, and he notched up numher three for Denaby. Smith making a valiant .effo.irt to clear. Denaby were more aggressive than their opponents, and had it not been for Smith’s fine work in goal would- have had more goals to their credit

Newark got going splendidly on the left, and Wilkinson sent in a long centre which the Denaby left back turned into the net.

Hall-time: Denaby 3 goals, Newark 2 goals.

Newark started in determined fashion, and the Denaby custodian had some difficult w:irk to do. Wilkinson missed a chance, and Robinson and Green were unfortunate. Denabv broke away, and after Kirk had cleared from Ball, and the leather had several timed been put over, Dyal took advantage of a slip by McMillan and scored for the visitors.

At the other end Robinson scored, and near the end Newark equalised from a penalty

An exciting game ending four goals each
