Denaby’s Rally at Newark Comes Too Late

Newark took the lead early, Smith on the outside left was careering towards goal when he appeared to be sandwiched. A penalty was awarded and Mills netted from the spot kick.
Smith got a second for Newark 10 minutes later, converting a lovely centre from Mills. Newark’s third goal came from Keetley, following a melee in the Denaby goal mouth.
Bellamy reduced the arrears, running in to beat the Mobbs with a good shot, but Dennett walked the ball into the net to score Newark’s fourth goal.
At half-time Newark were leading 4-1.
There were appeals for offside from Denaby when Dennett received the ball well in front. The referee, however, took no action and the centre forward, going on, easily beat Tremain for Newark’s first, 10 minutes after resuming.
Denaby were all over Newark after this, and in the 71st minute, Betts easily beat Mobbs and Parry scored a third with a the great drive.
