After an Early Equaliser
New Goalkeeper Signed

Notts County Res. 4, Denaby United 1

Although Denaby lost by three, goals on. Saturday they showed an improvement on their previous week’s display. “Newman,” in Denaby’ goal, was Birkhead, the former Rotherham player, and at the conclusion of the game he was signed for the remainder of the season. Both Happs and J Williams played well, and Whitehead, the local junior right-half, again excelled himself. At centre-half was Sherwin, a youth from the Leeds district. Green figured at left-half. Vickers gave a good account of himself in the forward line, and South, inside-right from Yorkshire Tar Distillers, was, in great form. He had the distinction of scoring Denaby’s goal. L*Williams did not settle down at outside-left and after the interval he and Betts exchanged places.

J Williams was prominent in the opening stages of the game when Notts were attackĀing, but despite good defensive play the County went ahead after nine minutes when JULIAN scored an easy goal. Birkhead showed fine form when dealing with two shots from Treece. Denaby took a band in the game and SOUTH equalised. In the last ten minutes Notts added two more goals through RICHARDS and TAYLOR. DeĀspite Denaby’s persistent attacks the County further increased their lead through COOPER. Rickards had one disallowed.
