Denaby were beaten by strong Forest side at Nottingham, no fewer than seven of the home players having Second Division experience.

Even so Denaby showed good form in the second half and did not deserve to be beaten decisively. Gardiner gave Forest the lead in the first two minutes the game, and six minutes Roberts, a new forward from Huthwaite C.W.S., scored a second goal. Oakton beating Brookes for third time after 25 minutes.

Oakton scored Forest’s fourth point eight minutes after the interval, and two minutes later pressure by Denaby brought them a penalty. Betts easily converting.

Forest overplayed Denaby for a time and scored further coals through Hardy,  Gardiner and Brown. Denaby pressed heavily and were rewarded after 88 minutes with a  goal by Fleetwood.
