Denaby United Lose

Peterborough 2, Denaby United. 0

There was no end-of-season lethargy in this, the last Midland League game for both clubs at Peterborough last night. It was as tense a struggle as any seen at Peterborough this year.

The better part of the match resolved itself into a tussle’ between Peterboro’s energetic forwards and Denaby’s stubborn defence, in which centre-half Lee was outstanding. Peterborough missed many scoring chances, and even more were averted by the determination of Denaby’s rearguard.

Peterborough’s goals were scored by FOLEY (43 mins.) and WOOD (69 mins.). In quick breakaways Denaby were always dangerous, and wingers Boardman and Woods were the best of a forward line which would have taken Peter Moore and it received better service and midfield.
