Ups and Downs
Denaby Robbed of Victory
Peterborough 4 Denaby United 4
this was a game of ups and downs. Denaby got into their stride like world beaters and were soon three goals up. Peterborough, in a fighting finish, drew level.
Terry made a few rapid raids into Peterborough territorially and scored. Fearnley was outstanding among the forwards and well-deserved his two goals. Of the other forwards Taylor and Hewitt were the best. They each scored.
Fearnley was especially tricky and dangerous but he was well marked in the second half. Perhaps this was one reason why Denaby became less dangerous. There were certainly much below their initial form.
The defence to sue not to have sufficient stamina carry them right through the game, and they were gradually overpowered by Peterborough.
Camidge and Collins were the best of the home forwards. Their scorers were Rigby, Collins, Camidge and Hargreaves.
