Denaby Are Pinning Faith On New Faces.

Denaby United, who have twice this season put their players through their paces against Rawmarsh Welfare, have several new faces on whom they are pinning their hopes of promotion to Division I of the Yorkshire League.

Heading these is a not unfamiliar face – that of Frank Hyde, who last season turned in some stirring performances for Mexborough Town. However, before joining Mexborough, Frank played League football for Bradford City before going to Selby Town.

Another local name among their line-up is Albert Dudhill – like Frank, a goalkeeper – who was with Bolton Ings Lane.

Old favourite.

In the half-back line is Roy Collins, a wing-half, who last season was with Retford Town, and Charlie Williams the former Doncaster Rovers centre-half, who was with Grimethorpe before the summer.

Another centre-half on Denaby’s books is Les Dalton, a youth international, and helping the Tickhill Square men in the forward line are two former Stocks-bridge Works men, right-winger Robert Jolly, and centre-forward John McKay. Incidentally Jolly netted 29 times for Works last year.

It’s ‘many happy returns’ to Gary Roebuck, who is back at Denaby after a season at Rawmarsh. Steven Toyne, who had three seasons with Chesterfield, comes to the Square from Matlock Town and Alan Larder, a former Rawmarsh inside-forward, also joins him.

League Experience.

Two others who have been with League clubs are D. Richardson, a wing half (three seasons with Sheffield United) and R. Bond, a full-back (Rotherham United). Dennis Philips, an inside-forward, has also been with the ‘Millers’ and full-back. A. Beecham comes from Sheffield.
