Quit thinking about the Midland league
Denaby urged
Denaby United should give up any ideas of getting back into the Midland League, writes “Nil Desperandum” in a letter to the “South Yorkshire Times.” The present members are too busy welcoming back clubs who previously deserted the League to have any intention on of allowing Denaby back in, he states.
At the Midland League’s annual meeting a fortnight ago Denaby failed for the second successive year the Regaine membership.
Nil Desperandum comments: “I should think that Denaby United now realise that the club is at present holding sway in the Midland League have no intentions at all of ever having them back.
“They are too busy welcoming back the “deserters” of eight years ago, but no matter how many reserve teams of the Football League minnows they get back, the Midland League will never regain its former glory.
“The way Lincoln and Scunthorpe have performed is not at all impressive yet at a recent Lincoln meeting, the opinion was expressed that the Midland League was not good enough for their reserves.
Promotion
“Denaby should now forget about regaining membership” the writer said, adding: “they should now concentrate on getting into the Yorkshire League First Division which to my mind is as good as a present day Midland League.
“Had team spirit not been destroyed and style of play not interfered with, both Denaby teams would have won promotion last year.
“I know you state that Mr Langford left the meeting without comment. I can well imagine that had he not done so, the said comments would have had to be printed on asbestos.
“In conclusion I wish Denaby United all the best for the future home, and would again say to the Midland League “stop sailing under false colours and changes name to Lincs and Derbyshire Alliance which is really what it is now.
