Rotherham County’s Fine Form.

Rotherham County 2  Denaby United 1

Following up their splendid victory over Notts Forest Reserve, at Nottingham, last Thursday, Rotherham County further strengthened their position in the League table in defeating Denaby by the odd goal in three.

This was no more than was expected, seeing that the visitors found it necessary include several Reserve men. For all that, the game was a good one, with the County always a little the better side. Undoubtedly the strength of the County team is their defence, and this was strikingly shown on Saturday, when they fairly held the opposing forwards at bay, the backs —Ashmore and Fell—both tackled and cleared their lines splendidly, with Bratley the best of a good line of halves, while the forwards were ever on the move. Graham and Brookes, the extreme wingers, put in some fine work, which was well supported by their colleagues.

Credit must be given the Denaby defenders as whole, who, considering the amount of pressure they wore subjected to, came out exceedingly well, Gregory, Nimrod, and Kelley in particular.

By this victory Rotherham County are but two points behind the leaders for the same number of matches played, having in the last seven games picked thirteen out of fourteen points.
