At Millmoor there was a large crowd, and the County kicked up the hill and gained a corner. Johnson and Taylor lost good openings. Another visit ended in Surtees scoring after ten minutes.
Playing strongly, the County scored twice before the interval but before half-time play was more even. Denaby strove to reduce the margin, Brooks saving splendidly, and Frost showing fine dribbling. Still Denaby could not get through.
